Amnesty Taiwan and Canada Bring Daria Egereva’s Case to New Audiences

Amnesty International’s campaign for Daria Egereva’s freedom continues across countries and languages. Initiatives in Taiwan and Canada invite more people to learn about the Selkup Indigenous rights defender and take action for her release.
Taiwan: An Appeal in Chinese
Amnesty International Taiwan’s Write for Rights 2026 page presents Daria’s story in Traditional Chinese. It describes her peaceful work protecting Indigenous lands, languages and cultures, and calls for her immediate and unconditional release and an end to the repression of Indigenous activists in Russia.
The page offers an online action form, connecting information about her case with a practical opportunity to support her. It does not display a publication date, so this is an additional campaign resource rather than a newly dated report.
Canada: Letters, Petitions and Community Action
Amnesty International Canada includes Daria in its Write for Rights campaign, with a link to a petition for her release. The campaign also provides letter-writing resources, printable materials and guidance for people organising events or classroom activities.
These tools offer supporters several ways to act: individually, through a local group, or by bringing Daria’s story into an educational setting.
Recognition for Amnesty’s International Solidarity Work
Amnesty International deserves recognition for helping turn international attention into sustained public action. Its national sections make Daria’s story accessible in different languages and give readers concrete ways to respond through petitions, letters and appeals to the authorities.
For our campaign, that work matters because it carries the call for freedom beyond professional human rights networks and into new communities. Taiwan and Canada add further opportunities to the initiatives documented in our earlier overview of Amnesty’s international support for Daria.
Our October coverage also includes Amnesty USA’s Banned Books Week initiative, Amnesty Slovenia’s educational and letter-writing resources, and Amnesty Chile’s coverage of COP17. Our international campaign overview brings together further national appeals and links to the original materials.
These Amnesty appeals concern Daria. Our campaign continues to call for the freedom of both Daria Egereva and Natalia Leongardt, whose work helped Indigenous representatives participate in international processes.
