The Woven Project has issued a statement of solidarity with its colleague Daria Egereva, calling for her immediate release and urging global allies to support the campaign.

The climate justice organisation describes Egereva as a long-standing participant in peaceful international dialogue on Indigenous Peoples’ rights and climate policy. It highlights her role as co-chair of the Indigenous Peoples’ Caucus within the UN climate process and her work with the Local Communities and Indigenous Peoples Platform.

The statement says she was arrested on 17 December 2025 after completing her duties at COP30 in Belém, Brazil. The Woven Project rejects the terrorism allegations and characterises the prosecution as retaliation for her Indigenous rights advocacy.

The organisation supports the international Indigenous Peoples’ appeal to President Putin and encourages partners, particularly in the Global South, to amplify solidarity statements and send supportive messages. This item summarises the statement published on 12 February 2026, written by Jai Deranger.
