Tallgrass Institute Backs Indigenous Peoples’ Appeal for Daria Egereva’s Release

Tallgrass Institute has supported an open letter from Indigenous Peoples around the world calling on Russian President Vladimir Putin to release Daria Egereva immediately.
In its announcement, the institute describes Egereva’s work as peaceful participation in international institutions and dialogue on Indigenous rights and climate policy. It highlights her involvement in UN climate conferences, including COP28, COP29 and COP30, and her role as a representative of the Selkup people.
The announcement also cites Sámi advocate and UN Permanent Forum member Valentina Sovkina’s support for Egereva. It presents the appeal as a collective effort involving Indigenous representatives from the seven UN socio-cultural regions.
Published ahead of the scheduled 11 February hearing, the institute’s statement adds its voice to the international campaign. This news item summarises Tallgrass Institute’s endorsement; the original page also links to the open letter and petition.
