Indigenous peoples around the world are expressing their solidarity with the Indigenous peoples of Russia in their struggle for their rights.

“From the plateaus of Argentina, Bolivia, and Chile to New York, we raise our voices in solidarity with Natalia Leongardt and Daria Egereva, who are facing criminalization for defending their territories, their communities, and their way of life. Defending rights is not a crime. Solidarity among peoples transcends borders when injustice seeks to silence those who speak the truth,” statements from Indigenous peoples across different countries say.

Today, April 20, the 25th session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues opened at the UN headquarters in New York.
