FAZ Interview: Irina Kurilova on the Repression of Indigenous Voices

In an interview with FAZ, Yukaghir journalist Irina Kurilova describes the search and interrogation that preceded her departure from Russia. She discusses threats against Indigenous advocates, the arrests of Daria Egereva and Natalia Leongardt, and pressure on the informal Aborigen Forum network.

Kurilova also explains how language preservation and Indigenous journalism are affected by repression, while resource extraction brings little benefit to local communities.
