“Everyone for All”: Conference in Support of Daria Egereva and Other Political Prisoners to Take Place on September 8–9
Russian human rights defender and Indigenous rights activist Daria Egereva has been nominated for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, her supporters announced on September 2.
Egereva, a member of the Selkup Indigenous people, has for many years advocated for the rights of Indigenous communities in Russia at international forums, including the United Nations.
In December 2025, Egereva was arrested and charged with participation in a “terrorist organization.” The case is linked to the Aborigen Forum, an expert network that had been designated a terrorist organization by Russian authorities. Egereva had previously represented the Center for Assistance to Indigenous Small-Numbered Peoples of the North, which was part of the network.
The crackdown extended beyond Egereva. On the same day, Russian security forces carried out searches and interrogations involving at least 17 Indigenous activists and experts in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Moscow, St. Petersburg, Altai, Kuzbass, Murmansk, Krasnoyarsk and Tomsk Region.
The prosecution of Egereva has drawn international concern, with human rights organizations and UN experts raising questions about the use of counter-terrorism legislation against Indigenous rights defenders.
Support for Indigenous activists and other political prisoners will also be discussed at the third online conference “Everyone for All,” organized by Teplitsa and its partners on September 8–9.
The conference will bring together representatives of OVD-Info, First Department, Mediazona, Memorial’s Support for Political Prisoners, as well as Belarusian initiatives including Volnyja, Country for Life and Dissidentby. Speakers will discuss the scale of political repression in Russia and Belarus, tracing people who have disappeared within the prison system, maintaining databases of political prisoners, crowdfunding, support for released prisoners, advocacy and international solidarity campaigns.
The event will be held in a closed format, with participant verification and an option to remain anonymous.
