Daria Egereva’s Story Reaches Catalan-Language Readers

Updated: 3 hours ago

On September 14, the Catalan-language website Nacions Sense Estat published an article about Daria Egereva following the extension of her pre-trial detention until December 9. The authors also highlight the Selkup human rights defender’s nomination for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.
The article describes Daria’s years of work supporting young activists, preserving the Selkup language, strengthening women’s initiatives, and defending Indigenous Peoples’ right to participate in decision-making.
The authors emphasize the peaceful nature of her work. Daria participated in the same UN mechanisms where the Russian government is represented, but spoke as an independent voice of her people. The website views her prosecution as part of broader pressure on independent Indigenous movements.
The Catalan-language publication introduces new readers to Daria’s story and to the Selkup people whose rights she defends.
