Daria Egereva Remains Behind Bars for Another Three Months

Today, March 12, a new hearing took place at the Basmanny Court in Moscow regarding the preventive measure for Daria Egereva. The court extended her detention for three months, as requested by the investigation. The hearing was held in open session, attended by diplomats from several embassies, as well as her husband and children.


Daria Anatolyevna Egereva is a public activist and a representative of the Indigenous Selkup people, working on Indigenous rights and climate policy issues. She is the co-chair of the International Forum of Indigenous Peoples on Climate Change and has participated in UN structures related to Indigenous rights and climate negotiations.


She was detained in Moscow on December 17, 2025, after returning from an international climate conference in Brazil. Russian authorities accuse her of participating in the activities of an organization recognized as terrorist, under the article on terrorism and extremism, which carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
